How To Learn
Live Online Workshops
Millinery Hub offers a range of options to learn millinery, hat making and other art and craft skills. Workshops online, in person and via video means that more people than ever have access to the skills they need to make a hat for the first time or combine with their experience to further their millinery repertoire. Hat making is not a formula as much as it is combining many small tasks to create a piece. With this in mind, we design and deliver most of our workshops and courses to pass these skills in a student-centric manner rather than a strict curriculum favoured by educational institutions. While in some workshops, you may learn to make a specific hat in a particular way, in most, you will learn how to use a material or how to make an element. We believe this is the most practical approach to learn millinery.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic has hit, we only run online workshops using easy to use platforms like Zoom. While online learning stops physical access to your tutor, it opens up the possibility of learning from many more teachers. I encourage you to do so.
I also run weekly Virtual Open Workrooms on Thursdays at 11 am Melbourne time. You are welcome to join via the link below if you want to try it out. It’s an informal online get-together where you can meet new people, share your thoughts, learn a new skill, ask advice, or spend time with other hat makers. We’d love to see you there.
Besides that, we have a range of recorded workshops and online courses recorded by Waltraud Reiner that are available to stream online.
