Dyeing for Milliners – Tutorial – approximately 2 hrs
Milliners are lucky with the range of colours offered by our suppliers. We can get most of what we want in basic, popular colours and sometimes in more intriguing, less used hues. Even so, sometimes we are faced with a situation where the colour we want is not available, and if we are to have it, it needs to be dyed. Many people are scared of dyeing materials, and I understand why. Often they are expensive, and we doubt our ability to get the job done to a high enough standard. However, there are a few pointers and methods that can have even a complete novice dying materials.
What will we teach?
When and when not to dye
What types of dye are available and what materials they will dye
Equipment and supplies you will need
Safely mixing dyes
Setting and drying
Level: all levels, no previous experience required
