B grade sinamay is a straw cloth made from abaca fibre.B grade sinamay is my best-selling sinamay. Its quality is not less than A grade. The difference is that A grade sinamay is 23/23 DPI, meaning there are 23 abaca threads per inch of fabric in both directions, whereas B grade is 20/20 DPI. It doesn’t look like a huge difference on paper, but if you put them together, you can tell the difference. B grade sinamay is the ‘go to’ sinamay for most projects.
If you’re after a balance between fineness and ease of blocking, go for the B grade. If you’re after an incredibly beautiful sinamay for a big brim or a tip and side band style, maybe A grade is what you want. I stock B grade sinamay in a wide range of colours. However, if you want B grade sinamay in an unavailable colour, why not ask me to dye it?
