Sustainability and Environment at Millinery Hub

At Millinery Hub, I want to make the world a better place for this and future generations. Therefore sustainability and my impact on the environment is a big part of what we do.

Here are some of the initiatives we are taking.

CarbonClick and trees

We are part of the CarbonClick climate action movement, reducing the environmental impact of e-commerce. We both contribute to CarbonClick and enable you to compensate for your carbon emissions, so you can shop climate-friendly. Recycled packageing

Waste, especially plastic, is making a massive impact on our planet. I hate it! So, I only use plastic where I need to.

For the few products that need bags, I use cellophane or paper. Cellophane is made from wood pulp and is degradable. You can tell it because it’s slightly yellow and has a definite seam up the back and bottom. Feel free to compost it.

I don’t buy any plastic packaging for products, but unfortunately, some come already wrapped in it. In this case, I keep them ‘as is’ when I ship them to you. I recycle or reuse unnecessary packaging like bubble and shrink wraps to package some of your items.

All of my product packaging is either recycled, reused, or both. So if your millinery materials arrive in a fertiliser, wine, or some other weird box, I think that’s better than wrapping it in plastic.

Millinery Hub also recently replaced invoice slips with printed address labels. You get an invoice via email anyway (you can contact Lindsay if not).

The last piece in the puzzle was sticky tape. Biodegradable tape is easily available from office suppliers. However, “biodegradable” can be misleading. Fortunately, I have found cellophane sticky tape too! Again, you can tell by the slightly yellow colour. My tape is compostable.

I hope you will dispose of or similarly reuse the packaging as I do.
